Bachelors of Education, or B.Ed., is a two-year full-time degree program that is required for candidates interested in teaching or other related fields. A few colleges even offer this course as a two-year distance learning or correspondence course. Previously known as Bachelor of Training [BT] or ‘Siksha Shastri' at some universities. The B.Ed syllabus is designed to meet the psychological needs of students while also emphasizing various teaching methods. From a teaching standpoint, students in the B.Ed. program receive professional training in both art and science subjects All teachers in primary and secondary schools must have a bachelor's degree in education. The National Council for Teacher Education is a statutory body that oversees and regulates teacher education courses throughout the country.
